HRSP has two paths: single upgrade (one measure, no audit) and bundled (two or more upgrades with a pre-retrofit EnerGuide audit). Bundled projects unlock higher caps on insulation, windows, and combined measures.
Critical rule: Do not start any renovation work before your pre-retrofit EnerGuide assessment on the bundled path. Starting early disqualifies you from all bundled rebates.
Single upgrade path
- Air-source or ground-source heat pump (standalone)
- Solar panels
- Smart thermostat ($75–$100)
- No pre-retrofit audit required
Bundled upgrade path
- Requires a pre-retrofit EnerGuide audit by a registered energy advisor
- Minimum two eligible upgrades (e.g. insulation + windows, or heat pump + insulation)
- Insulation: up to $7,700 combined (gas and non-gas)
- Windows and doors: $100 per rough opening (bundled rates)
- Heat pump water heater: $500 when bundled
Typical bundled workflow
- Hire a participating contractor and book the pre-retrofit EnerGuide audit.
- Receive your audit report and renovation plan.
- Complete all bundled upgrades without starting before the audit.
- Post-retrofit audit and contractor submission for rebate processing.
