Ontario Rebate Check

OHPA Ontario | Stack With HRSP Rebates

Federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability grants for oil-heated Ontario homes switching to heat pumps.

Check Eligibility

The federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program helps oil-heated homeowners switch to heat pumps. If you heat with oil in Ontario, you can often combine OHPA with provincial HRSP non-gas heat pump rates. That is some of the highest total rebate money available in 2026.

ProgramTypical amountNotes
HRSP air-source heat pumpUp to $7,500Provincial, non-gas rate for oil homes
OHPA standard streamUp to $5,000Federal
OHPA enhanced (low-income)Up to $10,000Federal. Verify income limits at NRCan

What changed from Greener Homes / HER+

Federal Greener Homes grants and Ontario HER+ closed in 2025. HRSP replaced provincial HER+ in January 2025. OHPA remains the main federal oil-to-heat-pump grant. Confirm current status at Natural Resources Canada before you start.

Application order

  1. Confirm HRSP eligibility and hire a participating contractor.
  2. Verify OHPA eligibility separately at the federal portal.
  3. Complete heat pump installation per both programs' rules.
  4. Contractor submits HRSP; complete OHPA steps per NRCan instructions.
Do not assume one application covers both programs. Missing OHPA is a common reason oil homeowners leave federal money on the table.
