You do not apply for Ontario heat pump rebates on your own. Under the Home Renovation Savings Program, your participating contractor submits the application after installation. Follow these steps so your rebate is not rejected.
Before you hire
- Run the free checker to confirm gas vs non-gas amounts.
- Search homerenovationsavings.ca for a contractor in your postal code.
- Verify they are registered for heat pump installs.
- For bundled projects only: book pre-retrofit EnerGuide assessment before any work.
During installation
- Heat pump must be on NRCan's qualified products list
- Keep invoices, model numbers, and serial numbers
- Do not start bundled envelope work before the pre-audit
After installation
Your contractor submits through the program portal at homerenovationsavings.ca. If you heat with oil, you may also qualify for federal OHPA — in Ontario it is income-qualified through Save on Energy and closes to new applications July 31, 2026. Processing times vary.
